This year has flown by at lightning speed! I can't believe tomorrow is already Thanksgiving (for those of us in the States). Last night the hubby and I watched the movie Four Christmases and it reminded me of us at holidays. NOT that our families are remotely that insane, just the running around from house to house, and trying to see everyone part reminded me of our situation. The one thing that drives me a little nuts is when my cousins try to guilt us for leaving early. It's not like we have a choice. My parents are divorced and both of our families are big anyway and both my parents are incredibly understanding that we have to split our time up. If they understand, everyone else can get on board too, lol.I don't really talk about it much, but last year around this time my husband lost his job. It was expected due to the industry he worked in at the time, but it was still a huge adjustment. He's still in school full time and he's done a bit of contract work (I've mentioned his stints overseas in other posts), but nothing steady. To say it's been frustrating would be an understatement. But, I still have a lot to be thankful for. So, when I get stressed, I have to remind myself of those things.
What I'm Thankful For
- My hubby is home safe for the holidays (he was supposed to be gone, but his contract ended early)
- My sister married the man she loves this year
- I have great parents who never made their divorce difficult for their children
- I have a roof over my head
- Even though we didn't get to take a vacation this year, one of my best friends got to come visit me.
- I have TWO amazing critique partners. I'd be satisfied with one, but I've got two of the best.
- My MIL and FIL are awesome. I love the in-laws and wonder how I got so lucky.
- I have my health
- I'm seriously thankful for the good coffee I drink every morning.
- I'm very thankful for all my friendships, both IRL and online.

Thats a lot to be thankful for. You're very lucky! I'm also thankful for my wonderful crit partner;-). Also high on my list is my wonderful, supportive husband and my kids, my parents and knowing they are there no matter what, my sisters and my awesome group of friends.
My family. My hubby, six years on the 29th. And my friends who in all are just like family.
Hi, Katie!
I'm thankful for my family, the laughter and joy I have in my life every day--even when some of those days I don't want to come out from under the covers! Every day is a blessing. I have wonderful in-laws, too, and I'm thankful they're driving up from FLA to share the holiday with us. Also, this year has brought a fruition of a 7 year-long dream, being published. And a group of simply wonderful authors came along with it!!
And I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I'm sooo thankful for my mother who at this very moment is cleaning up my house so my in-laws don't find out I am domestically-challenged. Mwah!! I luvs you, Connie!! hee-hee-hee!!
By the way, great post, Katie! It really hits home that while situations and circumstances may come in our lives, we can always find something to be thankful for. From the simple to the big things, we're blessed. Thank you so much for the reminder!
I'm glad everyone so far is thankful for their family! Family might drive us crazy but they're so important, especially during the tougher times :)
I'm thankful for my awesome crit partner, too! As well as for my kids and hubby, and our health (often overlooked, but is so important!). After traveling over to the Baltics, I'm even more thankful for my freedom, which people take for granted far too much here in North America.
I've got an awesome house, a job I love and lots of good friends. Right now, though, I'm most thankful that I don't have to watch Transformers again today with my little guys because I told them the DVD is broken :) Does that make me a bad mom?
Omg, I'm laughing out loud at your post b/c my grown husband is currently watching Transformers (again)! Hilarious...maybe the broken DVD player thing will work on him too...And yes, can't believe I forgot freedom. I'm very thankful for that!!
Sorry didn't get to this sooner. My son purchased Four Christmases and I am excited to see it. I'm just thankful for so much, hard to list - family, friends, home, job, blessings. All of them.
Happy Thanksgiving
