Armageddon Costumes WOW!

Armageddon Costumes WOW!  by Maree Anderson  (for Writers Gone Wild)

Hi y'all,

I look forward to the Armageddon Expo in Auckland every year--not because I like dressing up (although I have been known to hire a costume or two in my time... not to mention those red contact lenses that scared the bejesus out of a few people at our RWNZ conference cocktail party back in August *g*). For me, it's a voyeuristic thing. I love wandering around, oohing and aahing at other people.

Some of the cos-play costumes are amazing. The effort people have gone to, and the attention to detail is incredible. And you'd better believe I embarrass myself by begging random strangers to stand still while I whip out the camera and take a photo. My kids are even used to me rushing off while fumbling for my camera or iPhone by now :)

Sound like a fun way to spend a rainy Auckland afternoon? Yep. You'd better believe it.

In fact, this year was so inspiring we've been checking out facial prosthetics and figuring out how to do our own latex prosthetics. Can't wait to have a go at applying DD's cat ears and muzzle. And the steampunk slash wound I bought should look pretty cool for Halloween, too.

Here's a few photos from Armageddon 2011 and 2012--enjoy!

And BTW, what's your favorite costume? I'm kinda loving the warg cradling the totoro plushy.

:)

Ohhh, these are crazy awesome. :) My DD does a lot of cosplay...I just love the energy at the events she goes to. One of these days, I'm going to dress up as Cooking Mama and join her!
